Pops of Purple

Dress: Monochrome printed dress, Socks: Purple wool socks Mr.Price, Bag: Black cross bag, Earrings: Gifted from friend, Shoes: Gifted from sister
I aspire to be like odd purple socks, I don’t mean smelly and always stepped on my people I mean those little oddball things that you think would never fit in, but actually do and even more complement the picture. To be a pair of woolly purple socks, to be comfortable and peaceful in myself but still vibrant and fun, to be useful and playful at the same time. I think sometimes  it’s hard to be everything we are, because many times we put ourselves in these boxes or other peoples boxes of what is appropriate or right, and the parts of us that don’t fit that in those boxes get covered hidden and put out of sight, and many times unfortunately out of mind. But really it’s all those nit-bits and little things that make us awesome, the fact that we as humans are complex creatures  with many characters and personalities, layers over layers over layers of ourselves and many time we hardly let ourselves be open enough to display these many sides, layers and angles of ourselves.

I’ve got over defining myself as one thing, trying to fit myself into a certain box and having to adjust myself to be that certain person I ‘should’ be…yeah I’M ALL OVER THE PLACE! I am all these many things and even though sometimes I feel they don’t all complement each other I’m learning to embrace all of them, my ‘positive’ qualities and ‘negative’ qualities as the little jigsaw pieces that make me a complete person. If we want to really live free and fully we must come to terms with all our layers and uncover them, discover more about ourselves, go on an insightful journey, don’t be afraid to be a pair of purple socks that are million things at once!
I LOVE these socks, they are warm, fun, comfy, colorful, beautiful, and most of all they are purple! It’s been cold in Kampala guys, like it’s been raining every single night for the last 2 weeks, so going to evening occasions has been somewhat of a hustle mostly if you get frozen toes in any non-sunny weather like me, and are going through a ‘no leggings or tights’ phase

For normal days it’s been sneakers and warm socks, but then when you want to dress it up and your toes are ka-razzeh chilly, these amazing purple socks do come in handy. Honestly I never thought I would ever be able to pull of this look, but it worked, I loved it and I kept warm.

I decided to do a monochrome dress, one of those vintage-y summer dresses with the most gorgeous print that consists of a multitude of flowers, leaves, birds etc, paired it with a simple belt and a pair of dangling gold earrings, and pulled the hair back and I was good to go. Balance is the key when it wearing pops of color, so I made sure I kept everything else pretty simple, thus the monochrome.

So tell me how are you guys keeping warm this rainy season?

 Thanx for reading my lovelies
Xx Kae – stay inspired
